I’m late as always with my personal blog. But the summer’s been a busier time that I thought. “Glow” is shining bright this summer with average crowds daily in the hundreds. I’m proud to say our service is forever improving and our food is always outstanding. I’m gearing up for the fall when I’ll be introducing some new menu items. Let me tantalize your taste buds and give you a preview. Shitake sundried tomato pizza with shaved parmesan; a new “Mozzarella Bar”, (big in New York, California and naturally Italy) – Crostini with a variety of toppings, with a delicacy of Imported Buffalo Mozzarella cheese to top it off; a Tuscan bean soup with crisp pancetta and spinach; Chipoltle chicken, black bean and old cheddar wrap, Turkey Bolognese and much more. This is the most challenging and tedious part of my job. For each recipe creation, each one is made at least 6 times, until I deem it good enough to fit into our menu. Some never make it!
Our “Desserts to Go” in disposable containers are going like hot cakes! Whenever I go out for dinner, I always take a box which has 12 desserts. It’s a real show stopper!
My last week in the city before the family and I go to Italy! So exciting. Last minute plans. We’re heading to Rome then onto Bari to settle at a beautiful inn with 13 bedrooms. Apparently we’re close to zip lining, (just what I want to do) and a beautiful beach and some incredible historic towns. Then a quick trip to Capri and Positano and the finale is a 4 day stay on my brother in law’s boat on the Amalfi Coast! Heaven on earth. Everyone is going except for my daughter Laura! She needs time to unwind after a long arduous summer of working at camp. I do understand, being the mother I am, but come on, giving up a trip to Italy???
Last weekend, we had a wonderful 12 year dedication at “Camp George”, the camp my husband founded and named after his dad. With over 400 campers this year, the camp is an inclusive camp that hosts many children with special needs. It’s dear to my heart, since all my children have attended and my daughter Natalie met her fiancé Ricky there. Adam, this year, was on the tennis staff and Laura was the unit head, overseeing 115 children. She does need a break!
After Italy I’ll be preparing for a one day show on “The Home Shopping Network” selling my latest book, “Family Favorites” and giving away a complimentary “Balance of Living Well” book. I’m excited to do the show, because if it’s successful, I may have the opportunity to sell my Personal Gourmet line, “Ready to Freeze” across Canada. The meals sell for only $7.95 and are outstanding. You get them fresh and vacuum sealed. You can keep them either in the refrigerator for 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Great for convenience, health or weight loss.
I’m also going to be on Proud Fm radio for a few Monday mornings at 7:10am talking about my Personal Gourmet “Ready to Freeze” line, specific health issues and donating some giveaways, so listen in!
Next week I’ll let you know about my “Big Idea” for the fall, that I’m getting very excited about. Until then have a great week.
