Recipe of the Week: Nanaimo Bar Shot Glass Desserts


Mini dessert to go!  Try this guilt-free dessert – a couple of bites that your whole family will enjoy.  Guaranteed!

3 graham cracker broken into smaller pieces

6 tbsp marsh mellow fluff (jarred)

Chocolate mousse

1/3 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

1 tbsp butter or margarine

1 egg yolk

¼  cup egg whites

1/8th tsp cream of tartar

3 tbsp granulated sugar

6 shot glasses

1.       Divide broken graham crackers into bottom of shot glass

2.      Mousse:  Microwave chocolate and butter for 45 seconds on high just until chocolate is soft.  Mix until smooth.  When cool add egg yolk and mix well.

3.      In clean glass bowl beat egg whites and cream of tartar just until foamy.  Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff.  Fold whites into chocolate until all incorporated.

4.      Divide marshmallow fluff between shot glasses.  Top with mousse.  Garnish with piece of graham cracker

    Would love to make this recipe but unfortunately I cannot find marshmallow fluff anywhere where we live in Ontario. But have found it in some Florida food stores. Seems a little strange since we eat the same foods as our American friends!! What marshmallow product would be a good substitute??

    Thank you for your comment.
    Marshmallow fluff can be found in most grocery stores like Loblaws, Metro, and so on. A good brand to use is Jet-Puffed by Kraft.
