Are You Buying the Right Peanut Butter?

If you’re a peanut butter lover, you’re  probably purchasing the same commercial brand time and time again.  Let me give you some insight for your next shopping trip.  Most commercial peanut butters contain added icing sugar,  extra salt and hydrogenated vegetable oil to make it creamy and smooth.  This is the kind of fat that clogs your arteries!  Even though peanuts are a good source of fat, these types of peanut butter are not very healthy.

All you have to do next time you’re shopping is to look for two words on the label:

“Peanuts Only” -  That’s it.  You’ll notice a layer of oil at the top of the jar. Don’t pour it off.  This  is the natural oils from the peanuts and all you have to do is firmly mix it in until combined.  You’ll notice that the flavor of natural peanut butter is quite different than those that are hydrogenated and containing sugars.  “Peanuts only”  tastes like a handful of delicious roasted peanuts; the other is closer to a sugary peanut spread.

Something as common and simple as peanut butter requires your attention and thought, to make it a value to your diet and health.
