This is my basic low-fat chocolate sauce, which I love over almost any dessert. It goes well with other chocolate- and fruit-based desserts, as well as with cheesecakes, soufflés, jelly rolls, coffee cakes - just about any sweet! | 1/3 cup granulated sugar | 1/4 cup corn syrup | | 3 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder | 1/4 cup water | 2 tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips
| | 2 Tbsp 2 percent evaporated milk |
- Whisk the sugar, cocoa, chocolate chips, corn syrup and water together in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes, or until it is slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Add the evaporated milk and simmer for 1 minute.
- Pour the sauce into a bowl and cover. Reheat if it gets too thick.
