Coca Cola in the United Kingdom is trying to get people to swap their tea or coffee for soft drinks with breakfast to boost sales as a result to accusation that soft drinks cause weight gain.
The marketing is called “Complete the meal” since breakfast is the most important meal of the day and a quarter of all drinks are consumed before 10 am. This seems like a far stretch!
This follows the previous obesity fighting campaign called “Coming together” which offers over 180 low calorie options in their beverage line and smaller can sizes to reduce the calories. As well they support programs that get young people active and are doing ongoing research with respect to zero calorie drinks and all natural sweeteners.
An uphill battle for Coca Cola who’s jingle is “The Real Thing”
