Food Journals and Weight Loss

Most dieters fail in the long term – reasons include extreme diet efforts and plans that can’t be maintained long term.
One of the most successful tools is keeping a food journal.  Yes it can be a drag and not as exciting as a celebrity diet – but it works and only takes 5 minutes a day. Use your smart phones or apps that let you keep track. Food journals allow you to see patterns of eating that cause weight gain –such as how often and when you eat, cravings, binges and eating out. Give yourself a limit on calories, carbs or points and keep adding all day to maintain control. Keeping track is a discipline and long term behavior change needed for permanent weight loss. In time you won’t need the journal – your brain will be doing it automatically.
