Gluten Free

Everyone today seems to be on a gluten free diet even if they have never been diagnosed with a gluten allergy.  They’re eliminating wheat, barley and rye from their diets and replacing them with corn, quinoa, buckwheat, amaranth and millet.

If you’re not allergic to gluten and going to a gluten free diet.  Beware!

Many of these products are higher in sugar, fat and calories.  These ingredients help gluten free flours  stick together better and increase the flavor.

They also can contain fewer nutrients since they are often using white rice flour, tapioca and corn and potato starches which are low in fibre and nutrients.  As well they cost more than double the regular products.
