Healthy Obesity

{mp3}680news – level of obesity – jan 22-2014{/mp3}

The term “healthy obesity” – refers to those that have a body mass index between 25 – 35. Mysteriously one third of obese people in the short term don’t suffer metabolic symptoms including high cholesterol, high blood pressure or increased blood sugar levels, according to a Mt Sinai research institute study.

Studies show that the healthy obese have fat cells that stay under the skin and don’t penetrate the organs resulting in no health issues. But after 10 years these obese people had a 24% increased risk of a heart attack, stroke or premature death despite their earlier healthy reports.

Those who were at a healthier weight rate were at a lesser risk of serious disease over the years. Better thought is that no level of obesity is healthy and public health should be preventing people from becoming obese, especially children!
