Nearly one in five Canadian adults have high blood pressure a disease with no symptoms.  Yet it damages blood vessels causing heart attacks and strokes.

Certain foods can help lower and even prevent high blood pressure. Fatty fish that contains omega 3 fatty acids can lower blood pressure.  Specifically salmon, tuna, sardines and trout. Plain non fat yogourt contains calcium which causes the artery vessels to remain flexible preventing blood clots.

Fruits and vegetables contain fibre and potassium which naturally lower your blood pressure. Cantaloupe specifically is high in potassium which counteracts the sodium that raises our blood pressure. Nuts which contain protein, potassium, fibre and magnesium lowers blood pressure. Soy beans cuts blood pressure due to a certain protein which relaxes the blood vessels. And spinach contains magnesium and folate know to lower blood pressure.
