Getting kids to eat healthy is a constant battle for many parents. While it can be a challenge, the importance of a healthy diet for kids can’t be overstated – one in four children and youth are considered to be overweight or obese in comparison to only 5 per cent in the 1970s – close to a 300 per cent increase.
Obese children are more likely to develop a range of health problems including type-2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, fatty liver disease, poor brain functioning, lack of energy, fatigue, sleep apnea, as well as bone and joint problems. We know that overweight kids and teens end up being overweight adults – so what can we do about?
This issue is why Rose started her healthy Children’s Lunch Program, offering hot, healthy lunches to schools in the GTA.
Rose showcases healthy versions of favourite kid’s meals that can also easily be made at home on Breakfast Television. Watch it here!
